Time to get involved.  Serving on a committee allows you to meet fellow EHS professionals and make a difference in our profession.

The Safety Council of Illinois mission is to create a safety community working with business to reduce injuries and deaths by developing and distributing essential safety and health information, education, and products.  Each committee is tasked with helping the Safety Council of Illinois fulfill its mission through the development and implementation of programs within its given area.  Employees of Safety Council of Illinois members in good standing may join more than one of the following six committees:

Award Committee assists the Safety Council of Illinois with the review and creation of the annual nomination form, marketing and judging of the applications.  In addition, the committee will assist with the award ceremony and annual review of the program.

Communications Committee assists the Safety Council of Illinois in the development of newsletters and website.

Compliance Committee reviews EHS regulations and offers suggestions/best practices for the Safety Council of Illinois to develop for members.   The Compliance Committee assists the Safety Council of Illinois in overseeing EHS compliance services and related programs as follows:

• Help to educate, inform, and update members regarding regulation compliance.
• Will serve as a liaison to various regulatory authorizes to educate and communicate members needs and perspectives.
• Will assist in tracking proposed changes in legislation, and will alert and advise the Safety Council of Illinois concerning the possible effects of impending changes regarding regulations and the potential impact on member organizations.
• Will make recommendations regarding Safety Council of Illinois compliance services and related programs (Including conference topics) to help us remain on the cutting-edge as the leading provider of EHS services.
• Will research and share information about speaking opportunities at various conferences and events to further educate employers, regulatory authorities, state agencies, and other stakeholders about compliance services and related Safety Council of Illinois programs.

Conference Committee assists the Safety Council of Illinois with the theme and speaker/topic selection for the annual conference.  In addition, the committee assists with marketing and program delivery.

Fund Development Committee raises funds for the Safety Council of Illinois and seeks support from the business community.

Membership Committee creates prospecting campaigns and assists applicants through the membership process including the host program at annual conferences, and acts as a resource/mentor to members throughout the year. The committee continually evaluates the membership prospecting campaigns and application process and submits recommended changes.
